Rachul Media Relations Office 216-433-8806 Lori.J.Rachul@nasa.gov RELEASE: 06-053 CAROL WESSEL SELECTED TO HEAD HUMAN RESOURCES AND WORKFORCE PLANNING AT NASA GLENN Carol Wessel has been named chief of the Office of Human Resources and Workforce Planning at NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland. In this position, Wessel will manage the full range of Human Resources and Workforce Planning Program requirements for the center, which include civil service staffing, recruitment, placement, benefits, employee development and organizational consulting, and negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements. "This is the ideal time for Carol to join NASA Glenn. She brings a wealth of excellent human resource knowledge and experience," said Kenny Aguilar, director of Center Operations. Wessel, a native of Cleveland, comes to Glenn from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Human Resources Business Unit where she served for the past six years as Human Resources Director and primary Human Resources Strategic Advisor for a major business line in downtown Cleveland. Overall, she has more than 30 years experience in a variety of Human Resources disciplines and has served with the Department of Navy and Health and Human Services along with DFAS. During her career, Wessel has received many awards, including the DFAS award for Human Resources Excellence, a Cleveland Federal Executive Board Outstanding Federal Service award and a Meritorious Civilian Service award.
