HUNDREDS OF GIRLS AND BOYS TO VISIT NASA GLENN DURING 'TAKE OUR CHILDREN TO WORK DAY'

More than 450 youths will spend Thursday, June 30, with a parent or 
relative touring some of the Center's unique research laboratories, 
or educational facilities that will allow them to discover the world 
of science and technology, during "Take Our Children To Work Day" at 
NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland.

A spinoff of the national "Take Your Daughter To Work Day," the Glenn 
Center event is an opportunity for both girls and boys ages 9 to 15 
to learn about their parents' careers and inspire the next generation 
with possible future career choices.

Throughout the day there will be many group activities and tours in 
which the youthful visitors can participate. Some of the tours 
include the 2.2 Second Drop Tower for a lesson on microgravity; 
Electric Propulsion Laboratory to see the large space environment 
chambers that test full scale low thrust engines used for spacecraft 
power and electric propulsion systems; Fatigue Lab for a 
demonstration of mechanical testing on various materials; and the 
Turbine Seals Laboratory to learn what engine seals are made of and 
how they are used in a jet engine.
