NASA TO SHARE EXPLORATION VISION WITH MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL STUDENTS

NASA officials will visit with students in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. this week to share the agency's vision for space exploration with the next generation of explorers.

NASA's Glenn Research Center Deputy Director, Richard Christiansen, will visit students at Farnsworth Aerospace Elementary Magnet School, 1290 Arcade Street, St. Paul on Wednesday, April 7 at 10 a.m.

NASA's Assistant Administrator, Office of Institutional and Corporate Management Jeffrey E. Sutton and Astronaut Andrew J. Feustel will visit on Thursday, April 8 with students at Anwatin Middle School, 256 Upton Avenue South, Minneapolis at 10 a.m. and with students at Crossroads Elementary School, 543 Front Ave., St. Paul at 1:30 p.m.

"It is vital that we partner with our schools to create learning environments that will prepare our young people for the journey ahead," said Sutton, himself a product of Minneapolis schools. "Our nation's youth will inherit the challenge to explore Mars and beyond in the years to come. We must do what we can to engage them in the exciting possibilities the new vision for space exploration holds for them."

Christiansen, Sutton and Feustel will discuss our destiny as explorers, NASA's stepping stone approach to exploring Earth, the Moon, Mars and beyond, and how space impacts our lives here on earth.

Farnsworth Aerospace Elementary Magnet School, Anwatin Middle School, in partnership with Bryn Mawr Elementary School, and Crossroads Elementary School are three of 100 schools selected to participate in the NASA Explorer Schools program.

Media representatives interested in arranging interviews with Christiansen or Sutton in conjunction with their visits please contact Sallie Keith at 216-433-5795 or 216-308-0801(cell).
