Harrington Media Relations Office 216/433-2037 Sally.V.Harrington@nasa.gov NOTE TO EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS: Local Schools Sign On with NASA Explorer Schools Program Media are invited to witness the signing of agreements between NASA Glenn Research Center and representatives of the teams from Glenn's six-state region who were selected to participate in NASA's Explorer Schools Program. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, in the auditorium of Glenn's Visitor Center. The signing comes at the end of a week-long workshop for the teachers from the schools that make up the teams. They will be joined for this event by the principals of the schools and superintendents of the school systems involved in the program and by Jo Ann Charleston, chief of Glenn's Educational Programs Office. The following school teams will participate in the ceremony. Lorain Middle School in Lorain, Ohio Joyce Kilmer Elementary School in Chicago, Ill. Southfield High School, partnering with Glenn Levey Middle School and Morris Adler Elementary School, all in Southfield, Mich. Crossroads Elementary School in St. Paul, Minn. Anwatin Middle School, partnering with Bryn Mawr, in Minneapolis, Minn. NASA's Explorer Schools Program is a new initiative and commitment between NASA and each team of schools over the next three years to bring exciting learning opportunities to educators, students, and their families.
