Rachul Media Relations Office 216/433-8806 Lori.J.Rachul@nasa.gov Public Invited to Presentation by NASA Astronaut Carl Walz at Glenn Visitor Center The public is invited to join International Space Station Expedition Four Astronaut and Cleveland native Carl Walz (Col. USAF) as he shares his mission experiences during a presentation scheduled for 7 p.m. October 22 in the Visitor Center Auditorium at NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio. Walz will share his experiences during his 6-1/2 month stay aboard the space station. His presentation will include slides, video presentation and a question-and-answer session. The Expedition Four crew of three (two American astronauts and one Russian cosmonaut) launched on December 5, 2001 aboard STS-108 and docked with the International Space Station on December 7, 2001. The crew spent 196 days in space establishing a U.S. space flight endurance record for Walz and crew mate Dan Bursch. Wearing the Russian Orlan spacesuit, Walz logged 11 hours and 52 minutes in two separate spacewalks. The Expedition Four crew returned to Earth aboard STS-111, with Endeavour landing at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., on June 19, 2002. Walz is a veteran of four space flights, and has logged 231 days in space. He was a mission specialist on STS-51, was the Orbiter flight engineer on STS-65, was a mission specialist on STS-79 and served as flight engineer on ISS Expedition Four. The Visitor Center will extend its operating hours for guests to explore the galleries prior to the presentation. Seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All adult visitors must have a valid, government-issued photo ID to enter Glenn. Foreign nationals (subject to restrictions) must present a visa or passport.
