Rachul Media Relations Office 216/433-8806 Lori.J.Rachul@nasa.gov Exhibit Marks Partnership's First Anniversary International civil space collaboration will be celebrated when a Space Cooperative Agreement between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Hungarian Space Agency marks its first anniversary this weekend. Almost a year ago, the U.S. and the Republic of Hungary signed the agreement to declare their "mutual interest in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes." On Saturday, April 20 from 3 - 5 p.m., NASA Glenn Research Center Director Donald J. Campbell and Deputy Director for Operations Dr. Julian M. Earls will join officials from the Hungarian Embassy in a ceremony to reflect on the partnership and its progress. The event, which takes place at the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society, located in Euclid Square Mall, Euclid, Ohio, kicks off an exhibit showcasing American and Hungarian contributions to the space program. The exhibit runs through Sunday, June 30. "I'm really excited that such a successful international partnership is being celebrated locally to recognize not only what the Glenn community contributes to NASA's mission, but what the Hungarian community has to offer as well," said Laszlo F. Zala, who serves as event coordinator, board member of the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society and senior electrical engineer in Glenn's Facilities and Architectural Branch. "This agreement has fostered tremendous cooperation between two very talented and active groups." Displays about NASA's mission and Glenn's contributions to it through bioengineering and biomedicine research as well as other examples of technology transfer will be on loan for the anniversary. Models of the International Space Station, Space Shuttle and ion engine will also be on exhibit, and guests will be able to view educational videos about historic space flights as well. # # # -end-
