For Release: October 1, 2001

Note To Editor/News Directors:

Hispanic Heritage Observance Turns the Table on Problem Solving

Utilizing individual and groups strengths to solve problems is the centerpiece of a keynote address titled "Paving the Way for Future Generations" to be delivered by Guadalupe G. Lara. Nationally recognized for her accomplishments in providing culturally competent conflict and mediation services, Lara commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Lara will present her remarks to Glenn employees on Tuesday, October 2, at 9:30 a.m. in the Administration Building Auditorium. Her conflict and mediation program originated from the Social Work Department at Children's Hospital of Michigan and seeks to promote interactions that are strength-based rather than problem-oriented.

Media representatives interested in attending the event for Glenn employees should call ahead to Jim Giomini or the Media Relations Office (216-433-2901) to be cleared through security.
