NASA Glenn Ready for Take Our Children to Work Day

Providing children with a quality educational experience in science and technology may never be easier than at this year's Take Our Children To Work Day at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Thursday, April 26, will provide such an opportunity as children and parents will tour world class and one-of-a-kind research facilities and investigate the exciting and interactive Visitor Center.

Over 450 children whose parents or grandparents work at Glenn have registered to spend the day at the Center's premier facilities including the Icing Research Tunnel, Zero Gravity Facility and the Telescience Support Center. In all, thirteen facilities will be available for tours beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.

Glenn's Take Our Children To Work efforts coincide with the national program, Take Our Daughters To Work Day, sponsored by the Ms. Foundation for Women. The primary aim of this program is to reinforce strong and resilient behavior in young girls and stresses breaking down gender and race barriers in all occupations and lifestyles. Glenn has extended its program, sponsored by the Women's Advisory Group, to all children ages 9-15. Interest in the program has grown steadily since its inception in 1994 when 100 children participated.

Media representatives interested in attending any of the activities should call Jim Giomini at 216/433-8340 or the Media Relations Office at 216/433-2901 in order to be cleared through security.
