NASA Glenn Awards $7.3 Million Contract to Ohio CompanyNASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH, has awarded a contract to JDD, Inc., Highland Heights, OH, to provide janitorial services to Glenn. The firm, fixed price, performance based contract is for routine cleaning services of a fixed nature and frequency, but also includes an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity component which allows for the ordering of additional services at fixed unit prices. The total contract value over three years is $7.3M.
Services to be performed under the contract include routine cleaning, trash collection and waste transfer as well as unscheduled washing, cleaning and carpet repair, plus emergency clean ups.
This contract is the first and largest competitive HUBZone set aside contract awarded within NASA. The HUBZone refers to nationally designated geographical areas in the U.S. that have high unemployment and low income rates. In order to qualify for the program, a firm must be located within a designated HUBZone area. Metropolitan areas can qualify based upon census tract criteria. Non-metropolitan counties must meet a specific income or unemployment test. Lands within the boundaries of an Indian reservation also qualify. Further requirements are that the firm must be a small business that is owned and controlled by U.S. citizens and that at least 35% of its employees are HUBZone residents.
