Two NASA Lewis Research Center Employees Receive NASA Procurement
Awards
Cleveland, OH -- NASA Assistant Administrator for
Procurement Don G. Bush named Lewis employees Nancy K. Horton and
Kenneth A. DeLaat recipients of awards at the annual Agency-wide
Procurement Awards Program.
There were eight award categories open to all NASA procurement
professionals; a total of 47 nominations were received for the 8
awards. The winners represent the best in the Agency in their
specific positions.
Nancy K. Horton, Procurement Analyst of the Year for 1992. Horton was
recognized for leading the review of contractors' purchasing
procedures to ensure that the contractors pay reasonable prices for
government-reimbursable items and for improving internal working
relationships at the Center that had impeded effective monitoring of
millions of dollars of government property loaned to contractors.
Horton has worked at Lewis since 1980 and currently works in the
Management Support Branch. She is a resident of University Heights,
Ohio.
Kenneth A. DeLaat, Procurement Supervisor of the Year for 1992. DeLaat
serves as chief of the Contract Support Branch. His department is
responsible for analyzing contractor proposals to determine whether
proposed prices are reasonable and for processing research grants for
colleges and universities. This department had a significant increase
in productivity over the past year due to automation of routine and
repetitive processing steps. As a result of the automation his staff
was able to accomplish more work in less time. DeLaat has worked at
Lewis since 1979. He is a resident of Seville, Ohio.
