Shuttle Mosaic

Image of shuttle mosaic.

NASA celebrates the 25th Anniversary of STS-1, the first space shuttle mission, on April 12. On this date in 1981 John Young and Bob Crippen flew the space shuttle Columbia on the most successful test flight in history. It was the first time a new spacecraft was launched on its maiden voyage with a crew aboard. This mosaic includes photos of the people, projects and technologies that have contributed to the space shuttle program over the past 25 years.
