    Plum Brook Open House
    May 31 and June 1, 2008
    11 a.m. to 7 p.m.


    Enjoy a tour of our 6,400-acre campus. The bus will stop so you can walk through two word-class test facilities and one state-of-the-art control room. Each facility tour will be hosted by the men and women who work here. The tour lasts approximately two hours if you exit the bus at all stops. Space is limited. The last tour bus leaves at 5 p.m.

  • Image of the Space Power Facility.

    Space Power Facility - Tour Stop  →

    Home of the world's largest vacuum chamber, this facility has tested parts of rockets, Mars landers and space stations. You can step off the bus and walk through this unique facility.

  • Image of the Spacecraft Propulsion Facility.

    B-2 Facility - Tour Stop  →

    The B-2 is the world's only test facility capable of full-scale rocket engine firings and launch vehicle system level tests at high-altitude conditions. You can come inside and look down into the test chamber.

    B-2 Control Center - Tour Stop  →

    Engineers control and monitor rocket tests from the B-2 Control Center. On this tour, you'll witness the re-enactment of a rocket engine test firing.

  • Image of the Cryogenic Research Tank Facility.

    Cryogenic Propellant Tank Facility  →

    During your tour, the bus will drive by this facility, also known as K-Site. Engineers use K-Site to conduct experiments using super-cold liquid hydrogen.

  • Cryogenic Component Laboratory  →

    The tour bus will drive by this new, state-of-the-art facility for research, development and qualification of cryogenic materials, components and systems.

    Hypersonic Tunnel Facility  →

    The tour bus will drive by this unique wind tunnel, which is designed to test air-breathing propulsion systems at speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound.
