In 2014, the Orion crew module and the Ares rockets will replace the space shuttle. By 2020, they will begin carrying astronauts on missions to live and work on the moon.
Tour our Fabrication Shop to see how NASA Glenn is preparing for the first test flight of this next generation of rockets.

The Ares I-X test flight is scheduled to launch in 2009. Glenn engineers and technicians are designing and manufacturing several components of the test rocket, including the upper stage mass simulator and the service module and spacecraft adapter simulators. On this tour, you'll see segments of the enormous upper stage mass simulator.
