"...what sets us apart as Americans is our willingness to get up again and push the frontiers even further with an even stronger commitment and sense of purpose."
President Barack Obama, Jan. 29, 2009
Please join us on Saturday, Feb. 7, as we pay tribute to the crews of Apollo 1, space shuttles Challenger and Columbia, as well as all other members of the NASA family who have lost their lives in the pursuit of knowledge.
The following events begin in the auditorium at 1:30 p.m.:
Civil Air Patrol Color Guard
Moment of Silence
Space Heroes, a presentation by Speakers Bureau member Jeffrey Woytach
Throughout the day, visitors can view the astronaut memorial wall located in the lobby of the Visitor Center. We also encourage you to spend time in the human spaceflight gallery, where the Combustion Module-2 Crew Trainer and the "Mission Support Center" console are located. The trainer, used by the Columbia crew, has been dedicated to their memory, and the console includes a multimedia presentation about their mission.
Please note the following important guidelines:
- Access to the NASA Glenn Visitor Center is limited to U.S. Citizens.
- All adult visitors are required to present government-issued photo identification.
