Kenny E. Aguilar serves as the Director of Center Operations at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Glenn from NASA Headquarters, in Washington DC, where he was the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Diversity and Equal Opportunity.
As the Director of Center Operations, Aguilar is responsible for human resources, training and development, procurement, security, technical services and logistics for Glenn Research Center.
Prior to working at NASA Headquarters, Aguilar was the Director of the Equal Opportunity Programs at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. He also served as the Personnel Director at KSC where he was responsible for the management of personnel programs, recruitment and employment, student programs, employee development/training, the union/management partnership, benefits, awards and policy development.
Previously, he served as the Deputy Personnel Director at the NASA Lewis Research Center, renamed to the Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in 1999, and as the Director of Equal Opportunity Programs. Prior to NASA, Aguilar was with the Ohio Youth Commission and also owned his own business.
An Ohio native, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology/psychology/business from Youngstown State University and attended graduate school at Cleveland State University.
His volunteer community service includes being an officer or serving on numerous community boards including: United Way of Cleveland; Community Forum; National IMAGE, Case Western Reserve University Board; Esperanza Scholarship Fund; YMCA; Toastmasters International; Cuyahoga County Sheltered Adult Workshop; Combined Federal Campaign and the Cleveland Federal Executive Board.
Aguilar has received NASA Exceptional Service Medals, the Ohio Governor's Award of Merit, the Community Service Award from National IMAGE of Northeast Ohio, and recognition awards from the Cleveland Federal Executive Board. He is the recipient of two Kennedy Space Center Honors including the Silver Dollar Award for Continual Improvement and the Center Director's Award.
Aguilar is married to Pam and has a daughter Maria.
