Dryden's B-52H is an air launch platform for advanced aerospace research vehicles, carrying on NASA's tradition of mothership launch aircraft. The aircraft can also be used as a research platform.
The H-model replaces NASA's famous B-52B, the oldest B-52 still flying at retirement. The B-model, NASA tail number 008, has been integral to many of the most significant projects in aerospace history.
