NASA Dryden to Host Civil UAS Media Day

NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center will host a media day in partnership with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) on Sept. 26, 2013, highlighting the center’s use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and related technologies for civil purposes.

NASA Dryden UAS highlights will include briefings and tours on various remotely operated aircraft, from the smallest, the Dryden Remotely Operated Integrated Drone (DROID) small UAS, to the largest, NASA’s Global Hawk that is currently participating in the HS3 Hurricane and Severe Storm Sentinel environmental science mission. Event highlights will also include emerging UAS technologies, demonstrating capabilities and benefits that will further enable next generation UAS.

Media representatives who want to participate in the briefings and tour must request credentials from Dryden’s public affairs office at drydenpao@nasa.gov or 661-276-3449.

Foreign media personnel who are not U.S. citizens must respond by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Domestic media personnel must request credentials by no later than 5 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Journalists should plan to arrive at NASA Dryden, located on Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California, no later than 7:30 a.m. PDT Sept. 26.
