WEST BORON STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT CAREERS AT NASA DRYDEN

Students at the West Boron Elementary School gather to watch as a 
student prepared to launch a weather balloon during career day 
activities at the school. 

Jerry Budd, director of NASA Dryden's aeronautics research, shows off 
his competition model aircraft to children at the West Boron 
Elementary School career day.  Students at the West Boron Elementary 
School in the East Kern County town of Boron learned about career 
possibilities in technical and scientific fields March 12 when NASA 
Dryden staff members volunteered to tell students about their jobs 
and showcased the diversity of the NASA workforce. 

Sixteen NASA Dryden employees ranging from engineers and the center's 
flight surgeon to photographers and mechanics outlined their roles 
that enable the center to function. 

NASA civil service and contractor staffers participating included Dr. 
Gregg Bendrick, Ronnie Boghosian, Steve Brink, Jerry Budd, Keith Day, 
James Johnson, Ryan Lazarony, Jay Levine, Cyndi Mangus, Wason Miles, 
Mark Pestana, Carrie Rhoades, Jim Ross, Tom Tschida, Scott Wiley and 
Leslie Williams.
