NASA DRYDEN OFFERS TWO SCIENCE WORKSHOP FOR EDUCATORS

PALMDALE – Educators are invited to participate in two science 
workshops offered in mid-April by the NASA Dryden Flight Research 
Center’s Office of Education. Both workshops are offered free of 
charge.

The first workshop, Mars Uncovered, will enable teachers to learn more 
about Mars and its geology. Topics to be discussed include the 
planet’s formation, the rocks found on Mars and its volcanoes.

Who: Educators in grades 4 – 9
When: Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Where: AERO Institute in the Palmdale Civic Center
What: Informative presentation about Mars and its geological evolution

The second workshop will focus on rocketry. A NASA teachers’ guide to 
rocketry will be the template for workshop instruction. Activities 
will emphasize prediction, data collection and interpretation, 
teamwork and problem solving. The workshop will suggest the use of 
inexpensive materials that will incorporate science, mathematics and 
technology education skills into a rocketry curriculum.

Who: Educators in grades kindergarten - 8
When: Thursday, April 23, from 4:30 – 6 p.m.
Where: AERO Institute in the Palmdale Civic Center
What: Hands-on opportunity to bring a sensory experience to classroom 
science curriculums
