The Lancaster and Antelope Valley High School robotics teams participated in the regional FIRST robotics competition March 20-22 in Los Angeles. The Lancaster High team not only won the Chairman's Award - the highest award at the regional level - but also earned a trip to the national competition in Atlanta.

Both school's robotics teams are support by NASA, with NASA Dryden co-sponsoring the Lancaster High team and the first-year Antelope Valley High team receiving a NASA start-up grant to get their program established. The teams participate in competitions organized by the non-profit FIRST organization with the goal of increasing student interest in mathematics, science and technology-based career fields.
