Space Shuttle Convoy Operations
During Space Shuttle Convoy Operations, Life Support provides a driver and suit technician an to assist the astronauts in the event of an emergency or early landing, and also provides support to the Vehicle Integration Test Office (VITT) by organizing and obtaining passes for NASA personnel from other centers such as Johnson Space Center or Kennedy Space Center, and by providing personal support to VITT personnel as needed. During the time that the space shuttle is in orbit, Life Support personnel are seconded to the Flight Crew Operations Division of the Johnson Space Center to provide this support and are generally considered to be "on call" 24 hours a day.
