PODEX Flights Could Reshape Atmospheric Science

This set of images was collected by the Airborne Multiangle SpectroPolarimetric Imager (AirMSPI) during its maiden flight on Oct. 7, 2010, on NASA's ER-2 over a portion of Air Force Plant 42 airfield and agricultural fields to the east in Palmdale, Calif. The brightness or intensity and polarization of reflected light is apparent in these images and provide different information about the elements that make up a scene.
