Yeager came to Edwards Air Force Base to participate in the Air Force Flight Test Center's 60th anniversary celebration Oct. 14, including a flight in an F-16 with AFFTC commander Brig. Gen. Robert Nolan that recreated the sonic boom that occurred when Yeager flew the X-1 rocket plane past the speed of sound for the first time 64 years earlier.
