The aircraft was recently modified by Adaptive Aerospace Corp. of Tehachapi to allow installation of a satellite communications (SATCOM) antenna on its upper fuselage. When configured with Earth observation sensors, scientists and any end-user can receive high-rate, real-time data being generated by science experiments on the aircraft via the SATCOM link.
