Sigrid Reinsch has been working with the NASA Green project since 2007, first on a cellulosic biofuels project and then on the OMEGA project. Reinsch serves as a scientific lead on the OMEGA project and currently oversees the biological experiments conducted at the San Francisco (SEP) project site. She also handles the logistics for the project. She has been a scientist in the Radiation and Space Biotechnologies Research Branch at NASA's Ames since 1998 and previously worked on vertebrate neuronal development using the African Clawed Toad, Xenopus, as a model system. Reinsch has expertise in cell, developmental and molecular biology and advanced light microscopy. She received a B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of California, San Francisco. Reinsch conducted post-doctoral training at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany.
