NASA Ames to Conduct Earthquake Emergency Drill
 
 
MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. – News media are invited to attend a news briefing on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, to hear about an earthquake emergency drill scheduled in early November at NASA Ames Research Center. The emergency drill is not open to the news media.

Phillip Snyder, deputy chief of Protective Services at NASA Ames, will brief reporters about the center's plans for the Great Worden Quake II earthquake emergency exercise scheduled Nov. 5-6, 2008. The purpose of the emergency exercise is to test the center's disaster response capabilities in preparation for a real earthquake or other disaster.

WHAT: News briefing for an earthquake emergency drill scheduled Nov. 5-6, 2008 at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.

WHERE: NASA Ames Research Center, Bldg. 15, located on South Akron Road at McCord Avenue

WHEN: 11 a.m. PDT Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008

WHO: Phillip Snyder, deputy chief of Protective Services, NASA Ames Research Center

To reach NASA Ames, drive on U.S. 101, exit at Moffett Boulevard/NASA Parkway, drive east on Moffett Boulevard towards the main gate. Media will need to show their driver's license to the security guard at the gate in order to enter the center. To reach Bldg. 15, drive through the gate and turn right on South Akron Road. Bldg. 15 is located at the corner of South Akron Road and McCord Avenue. News media interested in attending are asked to call Mike Mewhinney, at 650-604-3937 or 650-207-1323 (cell).
