NASA Ames to Host 'Welcome Home 2008' Event
MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. – Bay Area veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan, or in support of those operations, and their immediate families will be honored at a “Welcome Home 2008” event Saturday, May 10, 2008 at NASA Ames Research Center.
“The Welcome Home” event is sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in cooperation with the State of California Employment Development Department and local vendors.
Veterans and their families will enjoy a day of activities, including free food and refreshments, door prizes, live music, a car show and a variety of children’s activities and entertainment. Dignitaries expected to attend include NASA Ames Director S. Pete Worden, San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed, Sunnyvale Mayor Tony Spitaleri, State Senator Leland Yee and Major General William Wade II, adjutant general of the California National Guard. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Chase Park at Moffett Field.
WHAT: “Welcome Home 2008” event honoring Bay Area veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
WHO: Bay Area veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their immediate families. Please bring driver’s license or other valid identification to gain entrance.
WHERE: Chase Park, located at South Perimeter Road and Girard Road, NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field.
WHEN: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. PDT, Saturday, May 10, 2008
