News media are invited to attend a session of the Next Generation Exploration Conference (NGEC), a gathering of emerging global space leaders to discuss the future of space exploration, on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif.

The conference features discussions focused on establishing a framework for developing strategies for human space exploration in the 21st century as the United States and other nations prepare to return to the moon and destinations beyond. NASA Ames Research Center Director S. Pete Worden is a featured speaker.

Friday’s sessions in the Bldg. 3 ballroom at NASA Ames will feature presentations by the various discussion groups from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. PDT, summarizing the outcome of their discussions during the three-day conference. Worden is scheduled to speak following the presentations at 12 noon PDT during lunch.

News media interested in attending should call Mike Mewhinney at NASA Ames Public Affairs, 650- 604-3937, as seating is limited.
