Line Third Day
Students and staff of the University of Khartoum, Sudan are seen here combing the Nubian Desert for meteorites, in a line more than half a mile long, under the direction of Muawia Shaddad of the Physics Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Peter Jenniskens, meteor astronomer at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., and the SETI Institute Mountain View, Calif., concentrated the search for meteorites in an area where he expected small pieces to have fallen.
