The middle school was named after her late husband Ronald McNair, one of the seven crew members who lost their lives on the Challenger Shuttle on Jan. 28, 1986. In collaboration with the Traveling Space Museum NASA’s Ames Research Center sponsored ‘Space Day’ at five underrepresented schools in the Bay Area.
