MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. -- NASA’s Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif., and m2mi Corp., Moffett Field, Calif., announced Thursday they are taking a revolutionary step forward in improving telecommunications and networking from space. Left: Two isometric views of 5k advanced nanosat models with a diameter for 15 inch (38 cm), with some of the externally visible components, like solar panels for power generation, micro thrusters for orbit maneuvers and orbit maintenance, and star trackers as part of the attitude determination and control system (ADACS). Other ADACS components not shown include reaction wheels, torque rods, inertial guidance system, GPS system, etc. Also not shown are the flight computers, batteries, and payload sections.
