It already has expelled large amounts of gas and dust and is on its way to becoming a colorful, glowing planetary nebula.

This image of a nebula, known as N44C, comes from the archives of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope (HST). It was taken with the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 in 1996 and is being presented by Hubble Heritage Project.
