9. How soon do you think your carbon nanotube process to make interconnects will be used in commercially available computer chips? (1:18 minutes)
Dr. Meyya Meyyappan: "See, what we have demonstrated here is a feasibility of a technology, and then and then a process sequence which we think is compatible with the integrated circuit manufacturing as it is practiced today. Obviously, when you have to translate this into a commercially viable process which is to be embraced by the industry, there are, as usual, technical issues that need to be addressed. But, Im confident that the industry, you know, which has got an awful lot of very smart engineers, you know, who have been doing these kinds of things for a living, and made the silicon industry a remarkable success story. And when they embrace this, I think, within one generation they would be able to iron out, you know, kinks, if any, and then would be able to successfully integrate this, perhaps with the next generation computer chip."
