Jeff Moore: "If we find evidence that Mars, in fact, did have long-lasting liquid bodies of water, that greatly increases the chance that Mars may once have been an abode of life. If it turns out that Mars only had occasional catastrophic floods of water, and most of the time it was frozen or dry on the surface, then the likelihood that we’ll find evidence for early life is diminished.”
