1.What is the main purpose of the MER missions to Mars?" (36 SECONDS)

Jeff Moore: "While people see pictures and think that that's the main part of the mission, in fact, the main role or function of these rovers are not to take pictures, but to basically to try to understand the rocks in the landing area. It's something like a Sonoman wine-tasting tour, only instead, it's a Martian rock-tasting tour. Being able to drive up to rocks and place sensors up against the rocks and learn about the rocks is the main point of the rover mission.”
