NASA Ames has planted native demonstration gardens in front of our cafeteria and supercomputer buildings, which furthered the native plant conservation goals of the Federally-sponsored Plant Conservation Alliance. This project helps us meet the Executive Order 13423 requirements to reduce pesticide, herbicide, fertilizer, water, fuel use, and employee exposure. The demonstration garden out front of the cafeteria met the USEPA National Perfomance Track 2006–2009 goals. The gardens save as much as 6000 gallons of water per week.
