Deborah Feng is the Associate Center Director for the Mission Support areas of the Center. This includes directing a staff of over 410 civil servants and 550 contractors for cross-organizational and diverse functions such as the Chief Financial Office; Diversity and Equal Opportunity; Human Resources and Organization Development; Information Technology and Business Systems; Center Operations; Partnerships, Communications and Education; and Occupational Safety and Mission Assurance; as well as operational integration with key budgeting and finance responsibilities.
She most recently acted as the Deputy Center Director for NASA Ames Research Center, overseeing the management operations necessary to support aeronautics, information technology, science and space research programs. Ms. Feng, a 27-year Center veteran is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the Center's management operations necessary to support the research and technology development of the Center.
Previously, Ms Feng served as the Director of Center Operations, responsible for “city management,” of the Center, Deputy Director of the New Ventures and Communications Directorate, where she was responsible for the Center's Media Relations and Public Affairs, Government and Community Relations, and Education Programs. She has spent the past 27 years in various critical positions at Ames, including Deputy Chief Financial Officer, and Associate Director for Research and Development Services, responsible for the engineering, developing, and testing of large-scale complex, high-precision aeronautics models. She has a vast amount of operational experience and spent the majority of the first part of her career as a financial analyst, both for Ames and the private sector.
Ms. Feng has a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley and earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University in 2004, earning the highest honor from the College of Business; the GOLD Award for 2005 for her leadership.
A Bay Area native, Ms. Feng has two children, is an avid mountain biker and hiker, a black belt in Kempo Karate, and is active in the Center's Emergency Operations Center.
