Exploration Center

The NASA Exploration Center at Ames is located in the former Space Camp tent just outside the main gate to Moffett Field.

The NASA Ames Exploration Center, where visitors can experience NASA technology and missions first hand, recently added a number of fresh and exciting exhibits. Located at the main gate to NASA Ames at Moffett Field just off US 101, the Exploration Center has welcomed more than 150,000 visitors since it opened at the beginning of 2004 and has inspired tens of thousands of schoolchildren to become the next generation of space explorers. The facility is open to the public at no charge.

To get to the Exploration Center, which is located just outside NASA Ames Research Center's main gate, take the Moffett Field exit off 101. Follow the signs, proceed to the main gate and take an immediate right turn into the parking lot.

Exhibit hours are Tuesday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. , and weekends, 12 noon - 4 p.m. We are closed Mondays and Federal Holidays. School and other groups are welcome but please call ahead if you plan to bring a group of more than 15. Open at no charge.

Aerospace Encounter
Created for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students, NASA's Ames Aerospace Encounter is a unique, interactive program designed to stir young people's imaginations and fuel their enthusiasm for science, mathematics, and technology. Located in a renovated supersonic wind tunnel at the Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California, this classroom facility makes math and science curriculum come alive through cooperative discovery and out of this world FUN!
