In this NASA video segment, learn how NASA technologies are advancing the way firefighters are able to detect wildfires. This video describes Ikhana, the Unmanned Aerial System, or UAS, that NASA is using for scientific studies and to help firefighters control wildfires. Ikhana is able to take images through smoke and haze to detect hot spots and changes in temperature. These images are then transferred to NASA and sent to command centers to help firefighters.
