How hard could it be to land on another planet? Many people grew up watching television and movies that made space travel look easy. As entertaining as the shows were, the realism was lacking a bit when it came to visiting other planets, at least by today’s standards. In reality, landing on another celestial body is a highly sophisticated task that requires science and engineering know-how and lots of testing. Join NASA TV the week of Aug. 12-18 and learn about planetary landers, past and present. NASA understands the complexity of space exploration and designs robotic lander prototypes needed to land a spacecraft successfully on another planetary body.
