Gravity-Driven Fluid Flow
Audience: Educators
Grades: 5-12
In this activity, students combine liquids of different densities to observe the fluid flow caused by gravity-driven buoyancy and settling. Students conduct three different experiments to compare:
- The effects of salt water and fresh water.
- The effects of warm and cold water.
- The effects of fluids of students' own choosing.
"Student reader" pages provide background information about gravity-driven fluid flow. Use the data sheets to assess student learning.
