NASA Educational Publications and Products

educational products
NASA Educational Products include video tapes, CD-ROMs, and publications
Each year NASA produces new educational products, which are used by NASA education staff at NASA-sponsored workshops and events. Electronic versions of these products are available via the Internet and may be printed and copied as needed. Limited quantities of the published versions may be available through the NASA Educator Resource Center (ERC) that serves your state. Contained below is a listing of the types of products available and information on where to find them.

Lesson Plans and Activities:

Educator Guides - These are directed at specific grade levels and provide materials for educators that allow them to incorporate NASA themes into existing curriculum. Educator guides contain National Education Standards, background information, activities, glossaries, references and NASA resources.

Educational Briefs - These are targeted toward educators of specific grade levels (K-4, 5-8, 9-12, or Higher Education) focusing on mission discoveries/results as they support curriculum content. Each brief contains background information and a hands-on activity. These are 2-20 pages in length.

Educational Topics - These are 1-2 page lessons that focus on a specific subject or topic and may include an activity.

Posters:

NASA educational posters are called wallsheets. The back of each wallsheet is filled with panels that contain information and activities. These are available as pdf documents which, when printed, produce a booklet of 8.5 x 11-inch pages with the cover being the first page. Most posters have from 4 to 9 panels, depending on the size of the poster.

Lithographs:

Lithographs are NASA photographs, images or artists' drawings. The back of the lithograph contains information about the image, related Web sites, and may include a classroom activity.

Educational Videotapes with Video Resource Guides:

These are videotape programs focusing on specific NASA related topics or subject areas that support classroom curriculum. They are accompanied by Video Resource Guides that provide background information, classroom activities, and resources. The videotapes are available from the Central Operation of Resources for Educators (CORE), NASA Educator Resource Centers (ERCs), or they may be viewed and copied from NASA Television.

Educational Programs:

An educational program may be a brochure, report, catalog, or special issue that describes educational programs or services for educators and students from kindergarten through graduate school level. The length varies from 1-40 pages, depending on the product.

Electronic versions of the above products can be found in the Educational Materials section:

Educational Multimedia:

Educational materials such as videotape programs, slide sets, CD-ROMs, and DVDs are available for a minimal fee from the Central Operation of Resources for Educators (CORE). CORE is a worldwide distribution center for NASA's educational multimedia materials.

Educators may request a catalog and order form by writing, calling, faxing, or e-mailing:
