NASA Visitor Center Celebrates Earth Day

Join the Visitor Center at NASA's Glenn Research Center, Cleveland on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as they celebrate Earth Day and NASA's mission to understand and protect our home planet.

Phil Paulsen, an engineer at Glenn, will speak from 11 a.m. to noon about how NASA satellites track Earth's delicate systems from the harsh environment of space. From 1 to 2 p.m. Dr. Sheila Bailey, a research physicist at Glenn, will discuss NASA's research into alternative energies and the potential applications and benefits these hold for life on Earth.

Throughout the day there will be fun activities for all ages, free Earth posters, NASA decals and personalized souvenir photos. In addition, all of the Visitor Center's regular interactive exhibits and historic artifacts will be open including a moon rock, an original Apollo Command Module, a model wind tunnel and a flight simulator.

Admission to the Visitor Center is free and is wheelchair accessible. Registration is not required for admission to the Visitor Center but advanced registration guarantees admission to the presentations. To register, call 216-433-9653.

All adult visitors must present a government issued photo identification to obtain entrance to the center. Access by foreign nationals is subject to restrictions. All vehicles are subject to inspection. Normal hours of operation are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Sunday 1-5 p.m.
