NASA maintains an internal NEPA document repository for NASA NEPA Managers and the community called the NASA Environmental Tracking System (NETS). Subsets of these documents are automatically posted from NETS to a NASA NEPA Library that is accessible by the public. This library includes both completed and in-progress documentation for the following categories.
The NASA’s NEPA Library section of this website is also a resource for understanding documentation related to Executive Order (EO) 12114 and how EO 12114 interacts with NASA’s implementation of the NEPA Process. This section also provides insight into NASA’s implementation of Categorical Exclusions (CatEx) and the current list of conditions by which NASA would declare exclusions. Section 1508.4 of Part 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) defines Categorical Exclusions as “category of actions which do not individually or cumulatively have a significant effect on the human environment and which have been found to have no such effect in procedures adopted by a Federal agency in implementation of these regulations (Sec. 1507.3) and for which, therefore, neither an environmental assessment nor an environmental impact statement is required.”
