Chief of Staff Michael French
Image Credit: NASA/Paul Alers. Michael French serves as NASA's chief of staff and as a senior advisor to NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden, Jr. Before becoming chief of staff in October 2014, French served as deputy chief of staff, beginning in May 2012.
Prior to joining NASA in 2011, French served as senior advisor to the Secretary of the Interior, as deputy director of Cabinet Affairs at the White House, and as counsel to the chairman of the Federal Election Commission. Prior to working in the federal government, French practiced law in the defense-aerospace sector as an attorney in Los Angeles. In 2008, French served as an in-house counsel to the Obama for America campaign and as an attorney to the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team.
French earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
He lives with his wife and two children in Alexandria, VA.
