FEMALE SPEAKER: What was I doing in 1969? Well, I was in Florida, Tallahassee, with my husband at the time. He was attending a National Science Foundation math workshop. He was a college professor of math, and so we were there for the summer, and of course, we were all glued to the television in the dorm in the afternoon on this historic moment, and that's what I recall at that time.
At the time, I was not employed. I went into teaching eventually, and I've gotten some of the most wonderful materials from NASA for my fifth grade classroom, including that beautiful poster which I understand you're no longer producing, the 4 by 3 of the astronaut in the space suit outside of the Shuttle, and certainly, I've preserved it for my grandson who has it hanging in his bedroom right now.
He also wears the NASA insignia, which I have given him, and he has it on his backpack, which he wears quite proudly in second grade this year.
