FEMALE SPEAKER: When man first landed on the Moon, I was at a friend's house. We were sitting on the floor with our parents behind us on the couch, and we were watching this historical event at his house.
INTERVIEWER: What were your thoughts when you saw it?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Oh, it was so exciting and thrilling. One of the neat parts leading up to that was that through the whole space program, my father worked at a steel mill, and he helped make some of the bolts and things that were used. So it was always a discussion.
And in school, I had a classmate whose father owned the local appliance store, and every time something was happening, he would lend the school the television, so we got to keep, you know, tabs on everything going on through the '60s.
